The Innovative Treatment & Remediation Demonstration (ITRD) Program is funded by the DOE Office of Environmental Management to help accelerate the adoption and implementation of new and innovative remediation technologies through the involvement of government, industry, regulatory and public stakeholders in technology assessment, implementation, and validation.

At the invitation of a DOE site, the ITRD reviews a specified problem and establishes a collaborative agreement with site management. A Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is formed to investigate potential innovative technologies for their applicability. The ITRD process, which may include treatability studies and pilot tests, results in cost/performance reports and deployment recommendations to DOE.
